today is time that I will explain the Lync protocol short cuts, the name what actually this couple of letters mean. I was very often asked what e.g. is the meaning of STUN or RT. Also, which RFC is behind this protocol. If further information are available, I have posted this info too. Therefore, here it come: STUN - (Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) - Through Network Address Translators (NATs)) This is protocol used on the Edge server, where UDP data is passed through the NAT. This is an well-known bug in Lync with Exchange/ Outlook.   It seems like, the Lync-Outlook connection is somehow bouncing. There are several solution, based on your Lync environment, but independent from the Outlook version. First with Lync 2010 Client: You need to start navigating to the Client OPTIONS and uncheck under contact the " Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on the Exchange server check box" If you have Lync 2013 (15.0.4517.1005 or newer) or Lync 2010 (4.0.7577.4419 or newer) installed there is only one other option. As very often requested or even legally forbidden in certain countries, Administrators seeking for a possible solution removing the user activity time stamp. Mostly it is misinterpreted and secretly used for user activity monitoring. There Microsoft introduced an update with Lync Server 2010 CU6 and enabled without additional costs a simple and easy way removing this LastActive Attribute from the Users Lync Object.   Note: After you apply this solution, only newly written/ detected activity time stamps are effected. In other words, if the user object was Lync enabled before has not yet logged into Lync again, the last time stamp is still visible, as you can see in the illustration below.
