Teams Premium for Meetings: Intelligent Recap, Translation, and Protection Controls
Once Teams Premium is licensed, your next
step is to operationalize the features: decide which are ‘available’, which are
‘recommended’, and which are ‘required’ for specific meeting types. Premium
includes AI-powered meeting capabilities (such as intelligent recap) and
multilingual features (live translated captions and transcripts) that are
controlled via meeting policy settings.
Feature spotlight: multilingual meetings
Microsoft documents two adjacent Premium
experiences: live translated captions and live translated transcription. Both
rely on enabling the underlying captions/transcription capabilities in meeting
policies, and they often depend on the organizer holding a Teams Premium
license for attendees to use the translated experiences.
Configuration guide: enable live captions and translated
captions
1. In Teams admin center, go to Meetings > Meeting policies.
2. Edit the policy for the target users (or Global for defaults).
3. Set Live captions to ‘Not enabled, but users can enable’ to allow
captions and Premium translated captions.
4. Save, then validate in a test meeting.
Configuration guide: enable transcription and live
translated transcription
1. In the same meeting policy, set Transcription to On.
2. Confirm organizers who require translated transcription have
Teams Premium.
3. Pilot with multilingual users and document supported platforms
for your environment.
Operational note: transcription impacts AI recap
Microsoft notes that if transcription is
turned Off in meeting policies, intelligent meeting recap isn’t available for
users with that policy.
